Join our dynamic team as a Full-Time Technical Support Specialist - Mobile Technology with the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) Information Technology Department and play a pivotal role in shaping and maintaining cutting-edge mobile technologies. In this exciting role, you'll provide specialized technical support for PSBN LTE (Public Safety Broadband Network) and Motorola P25 Voice Radio Systems, addressing complex issues related to Data and Voice networks, Servers, Sierra MG90 modems and Mobile workstation units.
You'll be responsible for the repair, troubleshooting, and resolution of issues across major systems, while also developing and maintaining HRPS’s mobile computing platform. Additionally, you'll support the equipment and software for patrol vehicles and mobile command units. About the Role – How you will Contribute to the Service:
This role manages and supports critical IT systems, including the PSBN LTE and Motorola P25 Voice Radio System. Responsibilities include troubleshooting and repairing mobile workstation units, portable & mobile radios, and related infrastructure, as well as configuring group policies and maintaining GPS data collection systems. The position also involves reprogramming radios for various partners, ensuring firmware updates, encryption, and conducting routine audits on tower sites. Key duties include vehicle equipment installation, system upgrades, and supporting the integration of new technologies. The role also covers managing Active Directory, system backups, and hardware updates, along with troubleshooting issues with mechanics, technicians, and vendors. Additionally, responsibilities include maintaining inventory, developing standardized windows system images, managing purchases, updating technical documentations and continuing professional development. Backup support to the Communications System Coordinator and other related duties are also part of the role. Willing to participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation schedule.
What you’ll Bring to the Role:
Education, Certifications and Qualifications: Community college diploma in computer science, hardware, software, networking or other related field.
Previous Experience, Knowledge and Skills: A minimum of 1 years of related work experience is required, in network technology. Voice Radio experience
The candidate should have an A+ certification and experience or knowledge in wireless, radio, and mobile technologies. Familiarity with network management software and scripting or automation tools is also important. Additionally, strong computer skills in electronic communication are required, including expertise in analog design, digital systems, and applied electrical theory. A basic understanding of wireless communication systems, such as cellular devices, radio frequency systems, and wireless networks, is also essential.

Salary Range: $86,487.00 – 96,097.00
