About the Role – How you will Contribute to the Service:

The Community Mobilization Bureau (CMB) is seeking a Community Mobilization Bureau Pilot (Temporary Full Time) to support initiatives focused on community engagement, crime prevention, road safety, and the reduction of social disorder across the district.

In this dynamic and community-focused role, you will provide administrative and operational support to a variety of CMB initiatives and events while helping strengthen relationships between Halton Police and the communities we serve. You will play an important role in supporting outreach activities, coordinating logistics, maintaining records and reporting, and assisting with communication efforts, including newsletters, social media, and public information updates.

Working within a collaborative and fast-paced environment, your organizational skills, adaptability, attention to detail, and professionalism will be essential in supporting day-to-day bureau operations and ensuring initiatives are delivered effectively. You will regularly liaise with internal units, community partners, volunteers, and stakeholders while helping address inquiries and support district engagement efforts.

Here’s What you’ll Get to Do: 

  • Support community engagement initiatives, crime prevention projects, and district events through administrative coordination and operational support.
  • Assist with the district’s social media presence by drafting and posting content, public information updates, and promotional messaging related to CMB initiatives and events.
  • Gather, compile, maintain, and track information related to community initiatives, traffic concerns, partnerships, and ongoing projects.
  • Prepare correspondence, reports, newsletters, meeting minutes, and other communication materials for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate event logistics, including scheduling volunteers and CMB members to support community events and outreach activities.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for staff and community members seeking information regarding CMB programs, initiatives, or event status.
  • Maintain and update records, databases, district portals, and internal team sites to ensure information is accurate and current.
  • Liaise with internal units, community leaders, government representatives, and external partners to support collaborative community initiatives.
  • Process traffic complaints and related documentation in accordance with established procedures.
  • Support operational readiness by tracking equipment maintenance, conducting audits, and maintaining associated logs and records.
  • Conduct research and assist with identifying community engagement strategies and process improvements that support bureau initiatives.
  • Contribute to the overall effectiveness of the Community Mobilization Bureau by taking on other related duties as assigned.

What you will Bring to the Role:

Education, Certifications, Experience and Qualifications:

  • Minimum high school diploma plus one year of community college courses in office, business administration, or a related field,
  • Minimum one year of related administrative support experience in a fast-paced, computerized environment.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing correspondence, reports, newsletters, or social media content.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and maintain accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with staff, community members, and external partners.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality while demonstrating professionalism, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Experience supporting community engagement initiatives, event coordination, or outreach activities is considered an asset.
  • Experience with social media platforms, internal communications, or records management systems is considered an asset
  • Demonstrated adaptability, customer service focus, and ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
  • The contract will be a 12-month term contract with the possibly of extension.

 

Note: The successful applicant will need to pass a background check to the satisfaction of the Service which will include reference checks with previous employers, verification of educational achievements, and a criminal background screen.

This position is based out of our 2 District facility which is located at Dundas and Trafalgar.  

Hourly Rate of pay:   $74,754.00 – $83,060.00 / $41.07 hourly
